Project

Qi is term 2, the PRAXIS part of the HIVE Project. The objective is to apply the research from term 1 THEORY and design a product and its marketing materials.

Concept

I have created a perfume brand named Qi, derived from the Chinese word气, meaning air. As someone with a Chinese background, the Qi brand aims to share Chinese culture while preserving the natural essence of scents.

The target audience for Qi includes anyone interested in trying unique and exotic fragrances. The brand features non-alcoholic, natural scents composed of essential oils.

The signature scent, Burst, is inspired by the Chinese word 菊, which means Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum has a citrusy, dry, sweet aroma and symbolizes high moral character and strong willingness in Chinese culture.

The fragrances Bloom, Whisper, and Breeze were built upon this foundation.

Bloom draws inspiration from 梅, plum blossoms, symbolizing strength, elegance, and self-love.

Whisper is based on , bamboo, symbolizing resilience, longevity, and generous spirits.

Breeze finds inspiration in , orchids, as inspiration, representing nobility, purity, and royalty. Together, the four fragrances express the aesthetic personalities that are notable in Chinese culture.

In Chinese culture, the combination of 梅兰竹菊 (Plum Blossoms, Orchid, Bamboo, and Chrysanthemum) is known as 四君子 or the Four Gentlemen.
